David Holland was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1944. He was educated at Nelson Boys College and Cashmere High School.
Previous Occupations were a Flying Instructor and a Manager. Deciding to "retire" in 1989, he purchased a small water colour set and began teaching himself to paint. There was a lot to learn but after reading the book, "The Art of Robert Bateman" he knew 'how' he wanted his paintings to develop and he has gone on to develop this special high quality work in oils.
He now paints almost exclusively in oil and is developing a great following for his still–life work in particular - both here and internationally with work going to many places around the world.
